Canadian Spring Black Bear Hunt

This part of British Columbia has prime habitat for Black Bear. In fact there is such a large population that the Government allows the opportunity for each hunter to harvest two Black Bears per year. An extra Species Tag is required. The Black Bear Hunting areas contain many miles of aspen trees and open grass lands on south facing slopes which green-up early in the spring, plus many logging clear-cuts that provide food and shelter in the spring, wild berries in the fall. The bears feed on new grass growing along the miles of logging roads. Hunters have an excellent chance of success and are likely to see up to a dozen bears in a day of guided hunting.

Hunters are taken out in the early morning and usually return back to base during the mid-day for lunch and relaxation before heading out for the afternoon and evening hunts. The daylight hours during the spring are long and hunters usually have 12 to 14 hours of hunting per day. Spring is also the best time to take a trophy class animal with excellent hair quality.

This area has Black Bears in the six to six and half foot range. The color phase are all Black to Black with a White Patch on the chest to Chocolate Brown with a White Patch and some are even a Cinnamon color. We also have the White Black Bear, but they are protected by law. The hunts are all spot and stalk, baiting is not allowed in British Columbia.

Spring hunting dates are from May 1st to June 15th and the Fall hunts are from September 1st to September 15th.

The hunt is in south Texas.  It is a semi-guided hunt (taken to and from the hunting area).  You will be hunting in stands over feeders.
